I am thinking of getting a new cooler for my evga 260 gtx the stock cooler is so loud....What would be a good quiet cooler for this card?..if there is one...My temp is 44c at idle and when playing farcry 2 it hits 72c I would like it bring the temp down as well....

mike have you installed Evga precision tool yet? I have the GTX260 core 216 SC and used the Precision tool to OC it to the same specs as the water cooled version and still stay below 65 degrees cel. but I am running my fan at 75%, I use headphones so the I can not hear the fan as for a better cooler look at these

One trick to cool down any graphics card is to place a fan blowing on the side reverse of the gpu, for me it has always dropped the temperature of the card at least 5c.. which would allow you to run your stock graphics card fan at a lower speed if you want it quieter. or run it at the same speed with cooler temperatures.

Lol that is what I just tried....I drilled a 4 inch hole in the bottom of my case right under my video card and placed a 120mm fan in the new hole blowing right at the card and it works great now....32c at idle and playing farcry 2 it is only 52c...that to me is a huge difference...I overclock the 260gtx to ..686/1479/1109..my fan on precision tool is only set to 25% which is super quiet now...If any one has overclocked this card any higher with factory cooling let me know...I don't know how high I can put this card and being safe...

currently, there are no aftermarket air coolers for the GTX 260... just increase the fan speed with rivatuner or EVGA precision

I like having a stock compaq case for the stealth look..but I do have a cool master case I may use in the near future...when I get a new motherboard and go 3 way sli....But for now with the new fan I can play farcry 2 and get 46 fps average with my temp at 52c...

You can try to reseal the card with some AS5. It drop my 4850 temps by 5C.
