Default Cooling for 8800 GTS r80

Hey all,

I just wanted your opinions on coolers for my EVGA 8800 GTS Superclocked 320mb (G80). I've looked at a few of them and noticed that there are a lot of compatibility issues with my card. What kind of cooler would you reccommend for me that wont chew up to much of my pci slots. I looked at the Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 8800 VGA Cooler, but I am worried that it is too big since I need all the PCI slots I can get.

Also, is the stock cooler any good. If I replaced the paste with AS5 for the GPU, what would I replace the ramsink pads with if I decide to put it back on?

Thanks.

The stock cooler is fine for the G80 cards as long as you have OK case airflow and you're not volt modding. Mine would stay around 70C load with a modest fan speed (60% i'm guessing).

take off the shroud from the stock cooler and ziptie on a fan got my old cards temps down to 60 degrees load
as for reapplying thermal paste you can do that without having to replace the thermal pads as long as you don't purposely try to peel them off
O and my old card is a XFX 8800gts 320 mb g80

check out the zalman gv1000 with the zm-rhs88 (required for g80's). With the fan at full speed, while gaming my bfg8800gts (g80 of course) hits about 55c max.

How does the noise compare with your solution and the stock cooler Flatliner?

not bad, but i have headphones on most of the time. its a little louder at 100% than the stock cooling at 100%
but if you turn the fan down its barely audible.
