Heya,
__________________Looking for a new cooler for my 8800 Ultra. ThermalTake DuOrb CL-G0102 - http://www.mwave.com/mwave/SkuSearch...iteria=BA24606 Under $50 shipped. One of the reasons I ask is that I use a Tech Station (as you can see in my sig) and so there is NO noise filtering at all. At the same time, the air flow is of course.. fantastic... the inside of my case is generally the same temperature as my room, which is pretty low. So, is it REALLY loud? If so, I might want to get a fan controller and drop down the temp, or simply get a quieter cooler.

Not very loud. I'd say almost silent.
Though that is with my case closed. I never have my case open while my PC is on, so I've never noticed. Just keep in mind that the Duorb is not adjustable, so like you said, you will have to get a fan controller if you want to turn the speed down.

I had them on my GT's when I used a Torture Rack. Not even close to be loud.

I used to be cool.

Yep. Very quiet. The best cooler for the 8800 or 4850 IMO.

eVGA 8800 Ultra SC. If you know of a better one below $50 (or at $50) for the 8800 Ultra in particular, let me know.. =D Edit: And hell, I don't care about what it looks like - look at the name of my sig rig. lol. It looks like a pile of computer parts and wires all mashed together. (Well, at a glance it does, I do take care with wire management and such)

I don't know if that will be enough for an Ultra. As for how loud they are,I have 2 in my case and hear them over everthing else. It's not a wine or noises bad fans make but the sound of air being pushed.
