Its a pretty big die. Just one grain of rice size should do, btw curing doesnt do that much.

theres should be another problem, maybe you apply to much, or the surfaces are not close enough, prolly not flat.

People forget that thermal paste is simply there to fill in the microscopic gaps that we dont see to TRY to compensate for the heatsink not touching the GPU/CPU all the way.. If your CPU is lapped 100% FLAWLESS and your heatsink and lapped 100% FLAWLESS, and I mean even such tiny holes/gaps that you couldnt even begin to look at it and see them, then you wouldnt need thermal paste at all, youd be better without it. But things dont work out like that, so thats waht the thin layer is for, to fill gaps/pinholes that cannot be corrected without.
