AS5 isn't really that good of a TIM. OCZ freeze, MX-2 and IC7 diamond all perform better, and don't conduct electricity like AS5 tends to do.

Most agree that as5 and ocz freeze are about the same, so I'd use one of those.

And yes, re-applying the thermal paste will give you probably a max of 5c difference.

the reason I like OCZ Freeze over AS5 is no cure time, meaning you will see the temp when applied rather having to wait for "burn in" time.

I have never used the MX or IC so I cant comment on the differences, but I doubt its going to be that much of difference.
