Default 9800GT Stock vs Stock + AS5 vs. Duorb

as some of you may remember, i tried to clean off my stock gpu heatsink w/o rubbing alcohol... LOL

After applying AS5, temp dropped a couple of degrees but wasn't enough for me. Thanks to "nafljhy", he sold me a set of duorb and I got it installed today. and here is the comparison

I hope this can ease the decisions of others out there when they're debating to get an aftermarket VGA cooler or not. xD

After testing out the loaded temp with the duorb, idle temp is now 40*C instead of 38*C, but just dropped to 39*C after this edit

Edited: to answer T3h_Ch33z_Muncha's concern, the ambient temp is around 21*C, around 70*F?

I don't have SS of my loaded from back then, but it was around 80*C

Woot woot! I got a Duorb on my 8800GT. Temps always stay below 50 degrees even after folding for days and days on end...

Awesome cooler! However, you need to check load temps to really see what it can do.

EDIT: 1,666th post!

well i was going to, but then i thought my explanation of the idea might have confused him. it would have been quicker just to ask (instead of searching for that sticky), but again, i thought it would have provided a better explanation.

sorry for any offence.

Yes, please post ambient and load temps.

I've been debating this whole Duorb thing for a while now. Still don't know if I want to spend the extra money to go water, or just go for the Duorbs.

He has a before and after from his system from stock to duorb and you can clearly see the difference, im sure the installation and testing was done all within the same few hours. do you really think his ambients changed that much? who the hell cares what his exact ambients were, that is a solid impressive improvement.

Because 38*C is a low idle temp on cards this hot, and we would like to know what ambient temp it took to get such low idle temps. I'm more concerned with load temps myself, but those are definitely impressive idle temps.
