Alright, everything I've tried so far has failed, I can't seem to adjust the fan speeds on my graphics card (unmarked GeForce 8400 GS 128 MB). Does anyone have any ideas as to why, and how else I could try to fix this, so far nTune, AtiTool, RivaTuner, EVGA Precision, they all failed to allow me to change the fan speed. Thanks in advance guys
.

what drivers are you running. I know that some drivers wont let you change fan speed.

181.22, but I had it with older versions as well.

Can you check your card to see how many wires the fan on the heatsink has? Some cards don't have the RPM sensing wire, which causes it to run at full speed, and not allow any software fan changes...

There's one that goes into the motherboard and another one that goes from one side of the card to the other.

In any case, I've heard of many other people who've also had trouble controlling the fan speed of the 8400GS, because its fan: ![]() does not have the RPM sensing wire... I'm not entirely sure, but I had this problem with my 8800GS

Well I have no idea about the manufacturer (there's nothing mentioned on the card, just green PCB, black see-through HSF cover, I'd post pics if I wasn't on the computer right now XD.

Your choices are pretty much limited to trying to reinstall/update your drivers, trying other fan control software, like speedfan, or just buying an aftermarket heatsink.

how many wires does it have coming from the fan? If there's only two, it won't change speeds.

Let's see, buying an aftermarket cooler for a (probably) $15 graphics card is rather pointless.
Speedfan can't control ANY fan, not my GPU, not my CPU. Let's see about pics... you have the red/black one that is also in the pic up there ^. Other than that you also have a black one that goes into the motherboard. I'd check the amount of pins but I need that graphics card right now xd. Back of card (yawn): ![]() Motherboard connector (I know it's hard to see, I taped it on to the rest of the cables coming from the PSU, the ones I don't use are sitting on top of my HDD):
