Ok i got an nvidia 8400GS 256mb ddr2 TurboCache to 512mb XFX graphic card.
The problem is that idle temp is near 85ºc and stressed/busy temps are above 90ºc (through never hitting the 100ºc).
But i noticed something, look this photo, this is my GPU:

Right? no. I got the same box, same manufacturer (XFX) but the little difference is that i got no fan cooler but two dissipator coolers above and below the graphic card.
I came up with the conclussion that the auscence of air cooling may be the problem.
Buying a VGA cooler would help?
Anyway, i never had any problem with the card, nor glitches, nor charshes, nothing.
But i wanted to overclock it because i got no money to spend and the performance of this card is horrible.
But as the thing looks like, i would say that even using a nice cooling system overclocking will be not possible.

Return the card saying there is a hardware problem... I.E the fan is missing. Passive coolers can't be that small.

yea you cant overclock that, temps are too high :P
If you dont want to return the card, get a small fan and zip tie it above the heatsinks :]

GPUs aren't nearly as sensitive as CPUs when it comes to temps. They can handle 100*c just fine.

it looks that i can try buying a small fan to reduce temps.
i know its nearly useless to overclock this but a friend of mine has the same GPU but with a fan and got a OC from 450mhz core+600mhz memory to 571mhz core+850mhz memory that is a significant performance gain.
mhh i'll tell you guys tomorrow when i get the fan how the thing gone.

Actually, before the overclock my friend used to play clive barker's jericho on 800x600 all graphic settings on low to be able to get averege fps.
After the overclock he changed the configuration to 1024x768 all graphic config on mid and worked just fine, while without the overclock he got much less fps on that configuration.
The same type of significant improvement was seen in other games
