Chris Ihao I appreciate your review on this, and frankly I kinda feel bad that you spent as much money on it as you did. 60+ bucks is a lot of money to spend on something that doesn't work as it should.
Overclocking is a reason.

It doesnt require extra heatsinks for RAM. Chris was just unlucky that he got a bent backplate/one that doesnt stick properly. Almost all other reviews I have read were fine with the RAM heatsinks.

This main coolers issue is the VRM heatsink. You can use the stock one, or try some other thermal tape, but yes, it should work straight out of the box.

Those VRM temps seem kinda low to me, even on idle. A screenshot of those temps using GPU-Z would be appricated

Thanks for the kind words. When all comes to all though, I'm sort of satisfied with having my personalized GTX280 in my box, even if it cost me extra. Some build model ships or tanks, I built my own damned good cooler out of this accelero.

PS: Your card does seem awfully well cooled with stock cooler, even for a good mount. Are you living in an igloo perchance?

Hi WaLshy11. I dont think I'm just unlucky to be frank, as a friend of mine has told me about several reportings of this adhesive being under par, and people experiencing heatsinks falling off under use. Not the thing you would like to happen amongst all the fans and expensive equipment in there.

Its almost wierd than none of the reviews I checked before buying this card mentioned any of the issues I had, as I seriously doubt they have ironed out these problems before I got the cooler. Its a known fact though that certain reviewers tend to skimp on the negative aspects to stay on the good side of the companies they get their equipment from. Not that I think this necessarily is the case in these specific reviews.

The backplate, in the event of being completely straight, would be another matter though. As long as it just lays on the top of the card inside the box, it probably works just fine. I wouldnt bet on it though, as mine really didnt stick at all. You should be careful when moving the computer or taking out the card, as it takes nothing to unsettle it from the ram chips. Hold the card against a lightsource to check if contact is good.

Anyways, when you get the cooler WaLshy11, please post in this thread and I'll update the review with your eventual positive/negative experiences.

lulz, nah.. What I did is i took off the stock HS and just replaced the cooling compound w/ arctic silver. And my load temp are with a overclock of 703/1450/1300... Also, I slapped a accelero s1 rev.2 on my old 8800gt that i did a soft v-mod on, and got crazy good temps on. So its just disappointing that a great company like AC overlooked something like that.

My temps under load:

(Moderately heated room, in comparison to the useful rather hot)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update. After running about 15 minutes of atitool cube, in a hotter room than above:

Funny. Looks like it has decreased a few degrees since before I was away for 4 days. Probably the arctic silver settling in. That makes it a 30 degrees celcius drop from the AC vrm hs then.
