Try putting a fan in to blow air across the back of the card. I had a dead spot around there- putting in a well-placed 80mm fan dropped my temps by a solid 7-8c.

If it makes you feel better, you could buy an aftermarket heatsink.

You might want to check that fan isn't full of dust & is spinning freely.

From what I remember when they 1st came out average temps w/ stock cooler were 53-57c and 78c load.

Notice how they are both single slot, but one has a larger fan (nVidia realized that their cards were running too hot/loud and updated the fan.)
