Unhappy 80C EVGA 8800GT Safe?

My 8800GT is running at 79C-80C with 100% fan speed, at idle it runs 60C-65C at 60%.

Is it safe to be at these temps, or will I expect an early funeral?

yeah its good to more then that...some people run them that high...of course you are risking early demise of the card but if your worried about it you can just rig a fan in there blowing across it or something...get a spot cooler they are only like 8 bucks right now.

That's a little warm. If it were my card I'd try t get it down to at least 70 load.

But for 100% that's pretty warm. You could RMA it and hope to get another cooler. Otherwise aftermarket is the way to go.

Something seems weird there, with 90% fan and in an A900 I would think your temps would be WAY less than that. I have SLI 8800GT and idling now they are at 47 & 45. Highest load temp I have seen is 64.

He might have the older cooler.

(I have no idea what cooler you have though, your point may be valid)

It's no worry. I had a PNY 8600GT with stock fan run 80C with no problem. Now I have a x1950 running 80-82C max, no issues whatsoever.

I wouldn't worry if 80C is the temp at 100% load.
