Yeah when I took off the heatsink on my 8800GTX the thermal pads on the ram tore also so I just replaced it with AS5 but you may have to put a bit more to compensate for the pads thickness. If you can it's maybe better to keep the pads.

Edit: 200+ post

Edit2: OT: drawz that quote in your sig is hilarious lol

yea you want the pads on they are there to cover larger gaps you can buy new ones but if u want to save a few bucks leave that one on leaving a slightly tore one might be jsut as good as using ac5 to cover such a large gap

heatsink grease is used to fill gaps that are fractions of a mm the pads usualy cover a full mm or so

the pads are thick and they havn't torn right down the middle...jus a little rip on d side....
so i guess i'll keep em on...
for the time being i'll try twisting the sink a bit like he said...

the heat sink covers the entire card... not like the one shadow showed me..so the twisting.....lessee..

What do you guys mean by twisting? I thought you had to screw it on?

Edit: Also make sure you cross-screw so the heatsink is reseated evenly

Couldn't find many pics on this card but this is basically the V2 version which seems to lack the plastic cover on the heatsink.
i think he was referring to me..

This is my card here

it's a big bastard...
