Hey, I currently have an 8800GT and really can't stand the noise on it's stock cooler, it sounds like a squeeling mouse so I was wondering if I got an 9800GT (has a dual slot cooler) or the 260 GTX, would they run cooler due to their duelslot? and how much cooler, would you say like 15C lol right now my 8800GT gets like 80-85 at 100% fan in L4D Crysis etc.
Also are the fans quiet on the 9800/260 ?

edit// oh yeah, I got like the first batch of 8800s, I think they had a bad cooler in them lol

The mouse squealing you describe is capacitors or chokes. All recent gfx cards will make this noise.

You could just buy an aftermarket cooler for your 8800GT. I have an Accelero S1 Rev2 running with no fan. Load temps around 50C.

When I had an 8800gt I never heard any squealing but the fan could get loud at 100%. I replaced the stock cooler with the Accelero mentioned above and strapped a 120mm yate loon to it. It was a lot quieter and cooler cooler.

However, the noise very well could be the capacitors squealing as was also mentioned above. I currently use a GTX 260 and it makes that squealing noise and the fan can be equally loud as the 8800gt's. I also think that it puts out more heat than the 8800gt. I never ran either card over 50% fan speed for more than a few minutes so I wouldn't be able to compare long term temp or noise levels.
