Hey guys I was just taking a peek at the temperature of my two 8800 gtx's (with stock coolers) while folding and I saw that one was at 55 degrees and one was at 65 degrees. I wondered why there was such a temperature difference. (The reason for the low load temps are because I have an open case and a decent sized fan is blowing on the cards) I thought that the fan was just blowing more air on the one card but when I moved the fan away, a few minutes later, the temperature difference was still 10 degrees. I know that none of the cards have dust in them as I cleaned them a week or two ago and both have the same amount of space and airflow coming to them. Anyone know what could be causing this???

Are fan speeds the same?
Also, is the top card hotter than the bottom one? heat rises, so that could be a simple explanation right their.

I used to have the 8600 GTS in SLI, and I noticed the same thing. And then when I disabled SLI, the temps were just fine.

Perhaps it could provide some clarity if you would post a picture

1) SLI is not enabled and I'm folding fine.
2) The case is on its side so no card is above the other. 3) The second card has the lower temps. 4) Pics.... maybe tomorrow if I have time. 5) Fans at the same speed EDIT: Added 5 and those were some quick as hell replies!

Reseat the cooler on the top card and see if it helps. The TIM they use sucks pretty bad, if you used some OCZ freeze or ICD7 I bet temps would go down.

Could they have been on different WU's? I know my card can change a few degrees (2-5) depending on the WU and where its at % wise. And really, if those are your peak folding temps, I wouldn't be worried
