I really like the performance from my OC’d 280, but when temps go above 70c it starts to artifact
. So I need a better cooler. It must be air, and it can’t be the Accelero xtreme gtx280, it’s not available in my country. Price and noise don’t matter, just has to have good cooling power. And I need it to be factory compatible with my card, I don’t want to mess around with ram sinks and other improvisations and adaptations !

Aren’t there any other air coolers for the GTX280 apart from the Accelero xtreme GTX280?

Thermalright make one. Otherwise you will just need to order the Arctic one from overseas.

You mean the Thermalright HR-03? Isn't it to big for a SLI setup, and does it fit out of the box or do I have to mod it?
BTW the Thermalright HR-03 GTX is not available in my country, just the old ones.

Yes, this sucks, I will just have to wait 3-4 months.
This is the last air-cooled build that I will do, from now on its H2O, ‘till then I will just have to brush up on my plumber skills .If you are wondering why I did not go water cooled from the beginning, there’s a simple answer: I didn’t need to, the noise doesn’t bother me, (I’m deaf as a post) it’s the dust that keeps getting sucked into my rig that gets me annoyed !

Thanks for your kindness, laurie, but I think I’m going to wait it out, maybe better coolers will appear. Since you asked, I live in Romania, in a city called Iasi.

Have you considered removing the stock HSF/shroud, cleaning and replacing it with new TIM?
Sometimes that helps. Additionally, since you are not opposed to added fan-noise, perhaps a modification to give the fan on the card some direct air (side-panel intake)?
