I've noticed lately that my 768mb(ddr2) 9600GSO has been running a bit hot under load, load being me playing L4D online. It sits around 72-74c, and at idle it drops almost instantly down to anywhere between 55-65c. Is that "load temp" too high, is it something I should try to fix?

Basically the only fan blowing air out/away is the rear fan...and boy is it blowing out some hot air. Ambient room temperature - Somewhere around 75f. Gotta save money, so a/c is a last-resort deal saved for those 90-95+ degree days. My room where this PC is located has dark blue cloth curtains that don't let any light in, and they're closed 90% of the time to keep it cool in here and to not throw off the lighting schedules for several snakes I own. One other question, which may be better answered elsewhere but no sense in making two threads about the same card...should I buy another 9600GSO and run dual SLI for better performance/better fps on my pc games or upgrade to a single 500+ mb ddr3 card? If a new card is a better option, what would be better than two 9600GSO cards and would cost around, say, 150ish dollars? Preferably a card that has the ability for it's cooling to be upgraded, after-market cooling has been limited for my last several cards and I don't like knowing I can't upgrade fans/heatsinks if the need ever arises. Thanks!

Under 90C, you're fine.

Awesome, thanks for the super fast reply.
__________________![]() So would my temp be considered average, average to high, medium-high, low, etc? I'm just now getting in to overclocking and knowing what these numbers mean, haha. If I can get temps down anymore, even if my current temps are good, that'd be awesome. Always trying to make things cooler in this case, so far I don't seem to be doing too bad and haven't had to fork out the cash for water or even more for the refrigerant/freon rigs(though that would be epic). By the way...my video card has an overclock of 13%/13%/13% using Riva Tuner. Probably should have put that important info in the first post, haha.

That is a little high imo. Did you up the gfx card fan? Also have you dusted it out recently?

From what I understand, it's impossible to turn my gfx card fan up.
__________________I also forgot to mention that in the slot under my gfx card, is a pci-slot dual fan turned halfway up and pointed up at the card. It needs a dusting, it's been about a month and I do smoke in my room which adds to the dust buildup in there.

Temperatures on 72-74c at a 9600GSO is not any problem. By it's architecture it's not getting much powerloss between 70-75c. Temperatures over that will might make some unstabillity problems, still there should not be any problem nat 70-75c.
