Currently I have a BFG 9800gt and if only has a single slot cooler. I need some idea's on how to make my cooling solution better, I have already applied new thermal paste (ZT-100) which did bring my temps down by 3c (52idle), but when I begin to play games it will jump up to 80c being the max. My ambient temperature is at a constant 74f and I have good air flow in my case 3x80mm intake and a 140mm exhaust my cpu never goes above 45c and its not lapped. I also made sure the my GPU cooler is seated properly and I have used rivatuner to up my fan speed which does work temporarily until the fan desides to jump back down to 35%. yes I used low level fan control. any Idea's?

is your 9800GT overclocked? If so put it back to stock clocks or lower them a bit. If that does not help try getting faster fans like 70CFM+ and bigger size like at least 120mm if you can.

temps between overclocked and stock only vary by 2 or 3c so that is not much concern and I think this sucker has like 40mm fan on it. ha ha

80șC under load is not too hot.

yea I know but I like really cool, I just took a 40mm fan and silicone'd it over the other fan hole (left the other fan hooked up) and it runs at max and the card fan only runs at 30% and it wont go over 70c

if ur bottom pci slots are empty u can stick a 80mm fan in the empty expansion bays to blow the hot air out, also u can just get a random fan bloying on the card from the other side

Just purchase an aftermarket cooler. Alleviate problems the whole way. That battle ax that is being offered above is a good cooler. I know.
