Default Accelero Xtreme 9800 For an XFX 9800 GT

So yeah, I ordered the Accelero Xtreme 9800, under the impression that it fit all 9800 GT card ( Says so on the site I ordered it from, Coolerguys.com ).

But now, I just recieved it, and oh crap is it big, doesn't seem like it's gonna fit and I don't wanna try it on and have it not fit, which would ruin my warranty, anyone knows about it?

Edit : I also don't care if I need to modifiy it or anything to make it fit, I just need to know if it's possible to MAKE it fit

That's a picture of my card.

That's the cooler I got.

Default Help!!!!

Hey man Im having the same problem as you almost. I have done EVERYTHING trying to get my system not to restart at anything over 3ghz which it seems to do. It passes Microsofts intensive memory tests, so I know my memory modules are fine. The PC will run Prime for days at anything below 3ghz but if you bring it above that it will reboot randomly. Sometimes it will run and let me play a game for an hour, other times it restarts after a few minutes. My power supply is brand new and gives plenty of power to all my components. Im starting to think i need to increase my memory timings maybe? or voltage? Please someone help me, im kind of new and i joined this forum 2 seconds ago because I saw how many people seem to know a thing or 2 about this topic where as im sort of a noob in this area. Anything would be greatly appreciated thank you in advance! I dont know if its my 8800GT SuperClocked that just doesnt like the motherboard and its restarting? I have no idea. Please help!@

No it's not that. I just see a thread with two brand new members with less than 4 posts and the second guys said something about having the exact same problem as you and his description is totally off topic and trying to thread-jack. Wasn't sure if this was a spam thread.

In order for us to help you better, please fill in your system specs in your User CP. With that information, plus a little more about the exact 9800GT you have (i.e. your model #, perhaps even a picture, if that's possible), we can be of more assistance to you.

If I knew exactly which card you have, I could tell you if you have a reference design. But my first instinct is that if yours is an XFX, then it's reference, and there's not reason why the cooler shouldn't mount on properly without having to do any modifications.

EDIT: Also, XFX does not void your warranty if you change the cooler, trust me. Try it out, you'll be surprised how simple it is to swap out. Just be sure to clean all the surfaces and apply some fresh TIM.

Okay, Didn't fit at all, Anyone know of any cooler that fits the XFX 9800 GT?

I was thinking about buying http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118037

Some people are saying that it's supposed to fit, but Im not convinced since some people were saying that the one I just tried was working too, so yeah...

The accelero cooler you provided a picture of in your OP looked like the one for the 4870x2's or the GTX 280 or something. I'm not sure what happened there.

See the muderMod link in my sig and go to post 2 (contents table) and click the one for my graphics cards.

I have two Thermalright T-Rad2's on my 8800GT's (will definitely fit on your 9800). They're pretty pricey (about $55 each), but I absolutely love mine.

Otherwise people seem to like the Thermaltake DuoOrbs alot.

I personally think these Scythe Musashis look pretty effective (same fans I'm using on my T-Rads).

Good luck, let us know what you decide!

Well if they said it would fit then fit it in if it doesn't get mad at em over the phone! It's what you should do since that's what they said and demand a replacement even if your warranty's voided because whatever they say in advertising they have to stand up to it..

Good Luck!!
