Is that ok?

Are you running the whole thing without heatsinks? It will overheat. In actual fact any parts without a heatsink will overheat. So no, it's not OK. It could last a few days without one but after a while it will just degrade and die. Can you not screw it in? Is it a different model heatsink than the card? You can find a replacement or buy a dead 8800GT for a few bucks. Worth it.

Then no, it shouldn't make a difference. Does that area even have a heatsink on anyway? I'm sure it's just cooled by the fan blowing air over it.

Actually it has a small black heatsink on that area I believe. And SORRY AGAIN guys, as soon as I got everything setup, I pushed the power button on my computer and poof, I got a big ol spark and I lost power in my room. It turned out that my psu crapped out on me and thats why I haven't been able to get any pictures up. I will get pictures up sometime as soon as ultra gets back to me with the warranty info.

Whoa, you have got some bad karma with that card of yours...

Good luck with everything.

BTW, I noted another guy placing those heatsinks on the reverse side of his board, he was running a ArcticCooling AcceleroS1 rev2. I placed some sinks over the reverse side of my board, over the GPU seat to see if it made any difference... only 1 degree difference - but it looks kewl.

Enclosed is a pic of what the guy did.

Also Muledeer, I tried your tip

Its a tad hard to see what you have done with the card but I note the ramsinks are still holding

Cant say I like your cable management (LOL) <just jokes>.

Looking good!

Hows your temps?

Perhaps, when you have time we can get some more pics from the other angles...

I'm working on the management of course
Temps are great, I get like 40 idle and 50 under load.
And I'll get more pictures up tomorrow I guess.

I used a couple tiny spots of Artic Silver Thermal Adhesive in the corners of each RAM chip combined with AS5 in the middle of the chips. This ensured that the sinks didn't fall off.
