Default GTX 260 Temp

Hey, my GTX 260 is running at 44 idle, and then it goes up to 85 load on Cryostasis 1680x1050 max settings. I kept the fan at stock speeds (40%) I know I could lower the temps by rasing the speed but I like having a silent PC kinda lol Just wondering if it's normal to go up that high from being so low idle? Do you think it's due to airflow in the case? I heard there was a dead spot for airflow around my GPU area, and adding an additional fan to the side of the case would help the temps alot. If there was a dead spot around GPU area, and I added a fan to provide a source of fresh air to it (142 CFM airflow) do you think it'd drop temps alot say 5-10c? lol

umm, if you like having a silent pc, why would you consider getting a 142cfm fan? thant thing has to be around 40dba. Just raise the gtx's fan speed to about 60% when gaming, your temps should be fine then.

yes unfortunately they are very hot running cards.

I'd recommend reapplying the TIM and turning that fan up. Personally I thin kits foolish to leave stock cooling on ANY high performance computer part. They are almost always cheap and inefficient.

Also quick FYI ..
You know what beats a "silent pc".

Loud speakers that cancel out fan noise.

Silent PC and gaming should be 100% separate entities. This kind of thinking is what causes overheating cough cough xbox 360.

it's this one, I already have 2 in my case and their dead silent about

I'm about to test raising the fan speed now, just was curious about adding additional fans to the case

EDIT// well wow, I really didn't expect raising the fan speed to work so well, I raised it from 40 to 60 and instead of getting 85c now it doesn't go past 75. For some reason I just didn't think raising the fan speed up would help out much. On my last card (8800GT) raising the fan speed from 40-80% only gave it like a 4c difference, I guess dual slot coolers help out alot
