Default Installing Accelero XTreme 280 on a GTX 285??

Just gotta say this is a big W T F

The GTX 285 install PDF from the AC website shows you install 1 heatsink (the fat one) and 3 thermal pads ONLY.

What?

There are 4 vertical RAM spots on the left, 6 on the top and 6 on the right. ALL of which had thermal gunk on them with the stock cooler. Im supposed to only put thermal pads on the top and bottom RAM of the left group? And then put that big thermal plate on top of RAM chips with no thermal pads?

All the other RAM chips are just on open air????

Im lost. Anyone done this yet who can tell me what to do? Or have any photos?

Mate you must read this

http://www.arctic-cooling.com/downlo...stallation.pdf

For Ram and Vram no need to put heatsink.Just open air for Gtx 285.Fan must be 80% above.
I already install that and one of the fan dead and need to Rma.That suck.

I read that, but could hardly believe it. I dont want to run the fans at 80% unless its silent. Is it? If not, Im returning this thing. Was really hoping for a silent cooling solution...

Ok I have an EVGA GTX 285 card, and I bought the Arctic Cooling Accelaro XTREME and I dont think it is gonna fit... Idk what the deal is, just doesnt seem to want to work and line up properly.
Anyone know if its me or this just wont fit.
Or any suggestions on a GPU cooling system that will work for my card?
Thanks

Did you remove the frame around the GPU? I read that it doesn't fit without removing this thing. Check this link:
http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/pro...-xtreme-gtx280

And look at the very first customer review- it is answered by QuietPC, and there is a link that shows you exactly what to remove.

I hope this is the problem, because I havent even gotten that far yet! I ordered the thermalright 285 heatsink kit because I refuse to just remove all the heat protection provided and run the fan at 80 or 100% to compensate.

If you want the memory and VRMs sinked, you've got to do it yourself.

Here's my GTX285 (just about to install the Accelero GTX280):
