[I wanted to air cool my overclocked GTX295 better so this is what I came up with and it actually works. I based this on the heat transfer principal of the optional evga backplate. EVGA claims to have a 20c pull down but in real world applications and searching the web is more like 10c.
The price of the backplate ranges from $20 & $25...If the backplate is based on heat transfer from the hot components to the thermal pad then gets to the backplate. Then I think I can do something similar using a HSF from Ultra which is around $30 when I got it and that I planned to used on my 9600GT, but never got to it because I upgraded to x58 i7 platform. Pix # 1 = My before temps with COD5 for 30 min ![]() Pix # 2 = Mounted the HS with thermal pads and thermal tape. ![]() Pix # 3 = Overall system ![]() Pix # 4 = Zoomed pix of the HSF & HS installed in my system. ![]() Pix # 5 = Just another zoomed pix of the HSF & HS installed in my system.

Wow so you have an entire GPU heatsink installed on the back of your 295? That's sick. Those are some good temp decreases too. Rep+

It's not even for any GTX 200 series. It's the GT9800 and below. It's a mod not a aftermarket cooler specific to a card.

Nice work
