Default 8800 GT - Alternative Cooling?

The small fan on my 8800 GT has been slowly failing. It is now at the point where the card is overheating from Burnout Paradise (of all things.)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835186016
I'm thinking of getting the Accelero S1, as I have seen another topic in which the owner has had a lot of success with the cooler.

I have two questions now.

1. Will I have to buy VGA RAM Heatsinks? And if so which ones should I get? (From either Newegg or Amazon)

2. Does this heatsink support a fan? And if so what size?

Thanks,
Matt

You definitely need a fan. An 8800GT will fail on passive cooling. Stick any 120MM fan on there and you'll have a great cooler.

RAM sinks - yes. any of them. They're all the same.

Get the Thermaltake Duorb. It's about the same price, it's small enough that it can be used in SLI, it cools just about as well, it comes with ram heatsinks, and you don't have to buy any fans for it (the included ones are blue LED too).

you don't need vga ram heat sinks

just a good aftermarket cooler, my 8800GT has been going fine for over a year now without vga ram heat sinks, just the TT DuOrb on the gpu core has been enough

besides, they just fall off after awhile anyway

My 8800GT with passive cooling on load had idle temps when it was using the stock cooler. It will not fail!!!

The Akimbo cooler is extremely good as well, and it exhausts out of the case, but they're hard to find now.

EDIT: Saw the new posts. :X

Thanks for the tip on the RAM sinks.

Does this cooler support a 120MM fan without modification to the cooler? I have 3 spare 120MM fans already lying around (2 backup for my case fans and one random one.) So if it does support a 120MM fan without modification, I'm all good.

U can fit 2 120mm fans onto it. You just need to find a way to tie them on to the heatsink fins.
