I apologize if this is in the wrong forum.
__________________My video card has been running very hot for a long time and I can't for the life of me figure out why. Today is extremely hot because it's so goddamn humid out and it is very hot to the touch. I was wondering what I can do to have it run much cooler? It came out of the box overclocked already and I even restored everything to the factory settings. Even before the heat for some reason it was idling at around 79-80C. I'll try and give you as much info as possible on my rig: AMD Phenom 9950 Quad Core PNY Geforce 9800 GX2 512 MB COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1-GP w/ all fans included Here's a ss of speedfan and gpu-z that will hopefully help: [img=http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/8572/99890874.jpg]

Down load a fan control program such as "rivatuner" or "evga precession" and turn the fan speed up to around 80% when you play games. that will fix your problem easy

You could also overclock it as well if you felt like it, tho with those temps already at that i wouldn't recommend it. Next is what type of "air flow" do you have in your case? do you have at least one intake and one exhaust fan hooked up?

I took all the shrouds off my GX2s and turn the fans up to 100% through Rivatuner...
Hope this helps you a little bit...

You can take off the entire shroud that encompasses the GPUs... Quote:
Less air restriction + more airflow = cooler temps... ![]() Granted it does void warranty, it was only an option...

You could try zip-tie'ing a 80mm/92mm fan on to the GPU. (Check the "Lower your GPU Temp's" link in my Sig.)

Maybe open the card and reseal it with some better TIM and clean the cooler from dust, add a fan to blow cool air on it. Other then that there is not much you can do.
