Default Accelero Extreme 280 question

If you take the fan shroud and fans off the Accelero Extreme 280 does it then fit with in two PIC slots instead of three?

I have a three way sli setup and there is a card in every other slot so there is no room for a three slot cooler. I was thinking if with the fan shroud removed it might fit in same space as the stock cooler. I was then going to experiment with mounding fans blowing in from the side.

NM I picked one up and found out for my self. The answer is yes it's only two slots without the fan shroud. However I'm going to have to put something between the heat sync and the next card to be sure that it don't touch and short something out.
