Default How loud is 8800GTX stock cooler?

I am planning on using this card for my new HTPC build but I am concerned the stock cooler will be too loud.

Now, I should know if it's too loud but I have this loud Scythe Kaze 2000RPM that dwarfs any other noise inside my case now...

I was thinking I could tune it down with rivatuner or something... or if its too loud, I can get a Thermalright HR-03.

Only thing is, I'm trying to work on a budget here...

Suggestions/ideas?

With my stock heatsink you could hardly hear it(or atleast i couldn't) and it was right next to me. kept my card nice and cool but im a sucker for aftermarket cooling.

you can also take the stock plastic cover off and zip tie a 80 or 90mm fan to it.

Never used an aftermarket cooler on mine, fan noise doesn't bother me so I cranked it up to 100% with RivaTuner so it wouldn't overheat

Its not bad. At 100% I wouldnt want it in a HTPC, but it doesn't need 100% for video duties. I'd leave it at auto and you wont hear it over the sound of the movie/music/whatever.

Cool, didn't think it was too loud (never noticed it). I guess I can take it one step at a time. Kind of annoying that it is huge and I have to remove the center HD cage.

At load it's quieter than my 8800GT at load.

At idle, both are silent.
