Default Asus EN8400GS Silent with Nvidia 8400GS GPU is as hot as a CPU???

My Asus EN8400GS has a fanless heat-sync, its designed to run Active X 10.0 with 0 noise, they didnt lie, but they didnt note the fact that it could fry!!!

I need a good GPU cooler, something small, cheap, 20 dollars is my limit, its ok to go up like 1-5 dollars if i have to...

anyone wana help me out?? im new to VGA overclocking, however i am on a pretty stable OC on my VGA, i dont know about my whole system though, i still waiting for my OCz cooler to come back from the store, i returned it for repair cuz i opened it to find a busted fan lol, dont want a system overheat. and im getting a nice 120mm case fan with neons on the way=D

ummmm... I'm just gonna assume OP meant he needs a new GPU.

Price range?
Resolution you play at?

TBH, anything you put in there is gonna be massively bottle necked by the rest of your system.

So... I guess it's just down to what you can afford then.

im gunna play with 1280 x 1024 resolution, and i need a new VGA cooler, im running my computer to 90%+ its able to output on its current settings, so im running hard games, Combat arms being one of them. (combatarms.nexon.net) its a **** game but its addicting and fun, also it needs some tough gear to play decently.

Overclocking a passively cooled GPU is not usually a good idea. The cooler that is provided is made to handle the heat of the stock card. As for an aftermarket cooler that would work with that card...I would honestly invest in a new card. Then again, looking at your system, you probably want to save up and invest in a new system all together rather than worry about the GPU.

You can edit your posts and add more responses rather than triple post...

Also, 60C isn't bad at all for a GPU. They can take much more but I like to keep mine below 70C. Are you getting artifacts or anything at that temp? If not, you are probably fine.

ok...

Where to start(*hopes he's not gettin trolled*)...

GPUs often run hotter than CPUs, if you have a CPU running as hot as a GPU, you've got issues. Generally 60c is upper safe zone for CPUsm but cna be idle for some GPUs, which can stand 80c+ easily.

Combat arms is not a "hard" game. It's about the same graphical level as a source game, maybe a lil worse. A "hard" game would be something like crysis(look it up). You don't need "tough" gear to play it, you jsut need something decent. The 8400GS is weaker than many cards 2 generations older than it.

1280x1024 isn't too demanding of a resolution. Like I said tho, anything is gonna be bottlenecked by the rest of your system, the CPU is the most glaring offender however.

You still haven't answered what your price range was either?

i just noticed, the only good thing on my system is my VGA card, and its actually just a common cheap upgrade. theres also my WD caviar Green, but only 8 MB cache.

Dont buy soltek if you find them, they found somewhere in China and Japan, i bought mine while it was still sold in North America, which was a huge mistake...

----------------------------------------------------------

Back to post...

ahhh.... make that 30 dollars for price limit, and yea my CPU isint the best in town, but is an 8400GS enough to play Combat arms??? without things lagging and me being forced to drop the picture quality of the game???

-------

And it the graphics card that i just bought yesterday is bad, then anyone wanna donate me a good VGA card??? (just hopes of getting one, im not asking for anything lol)
