I'll be getting a Thermalright Trad2 GTX VGA cooler come Christmas time, and I was wondering how exactly I'm to go about installing it.
I've got an EVGA 9800 GT and I'm completely lost as to how to remove the stock cooling and add my cooler. I'm hoping somebody with real experience can help me

Just remove all the screws from the back of the card, they should have little springs on them. Then just gently twist the cooler back and forth a tiny bit to loosen the thermal paste, and pull the cooler assembly off.

This should give you a basic idea of what you need to do.

I think that needs an edit ^
__________________It is very simple. Like stated, just unscrew the screws from the stock cooler and use the screws with springs and washers on the back.

That TRad2 is WAY overkill for a 9800GT. I would just get a Duorb for much cheaper.

I picked up my Acellero S2 for $20 CAN, and it's better passive than the stock cooler was at 100% fan. And apparently the S1 version is even better because it has more heat pipes. You can strap a 120 fan on it with zip ties if you have room in your case. They also sell some "Turbo-fan" add on for like $8 with dual 70 or 80mm fans on it. I just like the beast looks of it.

Alright so thanks guys
![]() Yes, I do realize that this is major overkill for a 9800. But the reason I'm getting this one now is so that I can keep it for the next card I get (which will be soon). Again, thanks everyone. And especially you, King Play, for the videos
