My 9800 GT has been running EXTREMELY hot lately.
It used to idle at around 50C. Now it idles at 60C. Whenever playing games like Team Fortress 2, I get temps of 70-75C. And when playing Left 4 Dead, I get temps of about 82C. I used to get 69C and 75C, respectively. AT MOST. I don't understand why the temps are so bad now. The fan is at 100% (like it always is). There's a side fan (120mm). I've tried it as both an exhaust and an intake fan. Neither have improved temps. When stress testing in Furmark, it hits 95C and continues going up. Does anyone know why this would be? I haven't done anything to the card at all. Maybe it's a drivers issue? Does anyone have a download link to the 185 drivers for a GeForce 9800 GT, Windows 7 32-bit? Thank you

Reseat the cooler, apply AS5. (not ass). Or buy a new gpu cooler. Did you change the drivers lately? Also, you could just run the fan at 100%

:P Maybe I will apply some AS5. I've got some sitting around here some place... I don't think I'm gonna get a new GPU cooler. Gonna get a new GPU soon, so I think it's a tad pointless. But I might, just so that I can cool this one if I ever decide to use it in a future build.

Sounds weird... Maybe it's off topic but, have the temperatures in the place you live increased lately? remember that it can have influence on your system's temps.

Actually, it's been getting colder and colder as the weeks have progressed. They've actually predicted snow for this weekend O.o I make my room as cool as possible. I have my window open right now, and it's giving a nice breeze throughout. So my room is pretty cool. I haven't increased the fan speed in RivaTuner, but I've tried it before. It worked the same as EVGA Precision (what I use right now). In fact, there was a recent update for EVGA Precision. Thanks for reminding me ![]() Have you checked nVidia for the latest drivers? I just checked, and they updated the 9 series drivers to 191. I suggest going for it and checking them out. I'll test 'em out right now to see if it changes anything.

Alright so I updated to 191.07 and I haven't really seen any temp changes in Darkest of Days. In that game, my card usually hits 65C within the first 10 minutes of play time.
But it maxed at about 85 after about half an hour. I'll need to test this out more thoroughly though. On the bright side, the update for EVGA Precision has some new skins for it, and one of them has got to be the smexiest thing that I've ever seen

Have you checked your card for dust build up? Take heatsink off, apply some new TIM, clean the heatsink with an air compressor or canned air, or even some water. Wipe with alchohol, reinstall.
