I had a VF900 before I went to the T Rad. It did a reasonable job, better that stock. Then again, everything is better than stock with the 8800

Its really slim too, should do the job

I used T-Rads with 100mm x 12mm fans and they worked VERY well. Check my sale thread link or my murderMod link in my sig for more pics.

The T-Rad is about an inch high, but the problems lies in the fact that it's a full cover heatsink. There is about an inch of space between the card and CPU heatsink, that includes the stock cooler so 1 inch. There is also a mounting screw at the corner of the CPU heatsink that will probably get in the way of a full cover 'sink.
I'm thinking a small, compact heatsink that covers just the GPU. Most of those come with memory sinks too, but I want to make sure I'm cooling everythng that was cooled by the stock cooler - not just the gpu and the video memory. If I have to buy the iandh sinks now then so be it.

Can I has murdermod? *wipes drool from lips*
Unless the T-Rad is further over from the side with the PCIe connector it'll be too big because there is a CPU heatsink mounting screw sticking up as is demonstrated in the picture below. Please forgive the crude nature of this picture as they were all taken with my phone.

I bet theres dust jammed in the heatsink to cause those temps. I've owned 2 8800GT cards and they would max out about 75-80C. I'd say its worth checking before spending money, unless you really want a new cooler.

Yeah it could use a good cleaning, but I just want to go ahead and replace it so I can have a little more headroom with overclocking. I'll buy a can of air and pull off the shroud and blow the dust out, but like I said I want a little more overclocking headroom so I will be replacing it either way.
Sometime later this month I'm going to grab an E5400 and do the BSEL mod 800 --> 1066, I'll probably do everything then.

Has anyone ever heard of a 170mm fan? I just measured my front case fan and it's ~6.75", the rear is 4 7/8" so I assume that's accurate for a 120mm? I'll just keep the front fan since fans that big are usually pricey, just need a rear fan.

I had an VF900 on my 8800GT in my old Dell 521 BTX case.
That should do the job.

Somewhere in the forums there is a mod where you get your stock intel/amd fan and zip tie it to the GPU and plug in the fan and run it. I heard it drops temps by about 5-10 C.

I'll probably get the VF900 then, should be the least problematic. Does the VF900 come with the 'sinks for the VRM? Or do I have to buy those separately? The reason I ask is because the pictures on Newegg only show the VF900 and memory heatsinks.
