Well if you use the HR-03 the IandH ramsink needs to be modded IIRC.

Yes you will need to get the VRM sinks. The VF900 was release much before we started using cooling on those toasty VRMs.

http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/thgtx28vrsi.html

You can get these. I know it says that they are for the GTX 200s, but it will fit on the VRMs. I used them on my 8800GT until I had to RMA it.

Also if you are planning to get an E5400 make sure you can actually use it on that motherboard.

There is also a mounting screw at the corner of the CPU heatsink that will probably get in the way of a full cover 'sink.
I'm thinking a small, compact heatsink that covers just the GPU. Most of those come with memory sinks too, but I want to make sure I'm cooling everythng that was cooled by the stock cooler - not just the gpu and the video memory. If I have to buy the iandh sinks now then so be it.

Can I has murdermod? *wipes drool from lips*
Unless the T-Rad is further over from the side with the PCIe connector it'll be too big because there is a CPU heatsink mounting screw sticking up as is demonstrated in the picture below. Please forgive the crude nature of this picture as they were all taken with my phone.

Check out these pictures. See how the T-Rad curves on the edge there? Would that not help you to clear the screw? It's hard to tell from your pictures, and you may never know until you actually try it out, but it seems like you could squeeze it in there.

But if that one screw is the only thing that keeps you from being able to use a quality aftermarket cooler, perhaps you should try to mod the screw with something shorter. It's up to you, really!

I've got so many things floating around in my head right now. I'm thinking it's time to move away from this rig. I'll keep my power supply and video card and use them in my new rig, since they both suit me just fine. I'll just pass this rig off to my brother, he should enjoy it coming from a P4. I just need to figure out which way I'm going, AMD or Intel? I have a proposed budget of around $400. I'm thinking Phenom II 550, are those still unlocking into quad cores?

My problem is that the few hobbies I have are expensive. I must get my fix!

The only thing I can see fitting there is a HR-03 GT inverted.

One thing you could do if you have decent CPU temps now is to just cut a few fins off of the CPU cooler and jam a GPU heatsink in there. I really like the TT Duorbs, but they may not fit and it may be hard to find.

Another option to reduce temps is to just reseat the stock heatsink. They usually pile a ton of thermal paste on there and screw it down. Clean it off and add your paste of choice, and you should get at least a few C temp drop.

This card has no screws, just something in the same area that look like they may be clips.

I just took the card out thinking I'd be able to pull the shroud and clean it out, but I can't get it to come off. Anyone know how to get the shroud off for sure?

You could try whatever version of hr-03 fits the 8800gt. You can mount it so the cooler is on the other side of the card from the cpu heatsink.

Yeah that's what I'll probably end up using.
Right now though I've got my card out and I can't figure out how the shroud comes off. I don't want to break the card, but I'd like I clean some of the dust out...
