I've got an EVGA 8800GT SC 512MB GPU with the Arctic Cooling ACCELS1 Rev 2 cooler running passively.
The GPU isn't at 1.1V(voltmod) at the moment. It is overclocked to Core: 700MHz, Shader: 1728MHz, Memory: 1000MHz(2000MHz effective). The GPU temperature only gets up to about 60ºC after about 5 minutes of furmark, but when I touched one of the ramsinks it almost burned me...I didn't leave my finger on it long enough for a burn. Are the VRAM ICs getting too hot?

keep in mind 60*c is 128*f, so that alone should be uncomfortably warm. Your vram chips are probably close to that same temp, which is not too hot. If you want to be sure, you can get an infared thermometer at radio shack for 29 bucks or so!

![]() Anyway, I would personally point a fan at the other side of the card. My GTX 295 gets hot (it actually has a warning temperature sign on the back threatening physical harm if I touch the metal backplate covering the chips.) I pointed 5 120mm fans at it, and now it gets somewhat warm at best

I believe the default voltage for the 8800GT at 3D spec speeds is 1.0V.
