I have plenty of personal experience with this video card (see thread in sig) and under no circumstance should a reference GTX285 ever go above 88*C. And that's only if you run Furmark with "Xtreme Burn Mode" enabled for around 10 minutes. Normal load temperatures should be around 65*C - 75*C maximum. 105*C is the temperature at which the GPU begins to throttle and it should never be anywhere near this temperature in any scenario or you are risking instability and drastically shorter lifespan for the video card.
If that is not the case for you then either one of two things are wrong: 1. You have really bad airflow in your case with things being restricted. 2. It is a manufacturing defect and the heatsink isn't sitting correctly or the paste has dried out or has not been applied properly. First I would check to make sure #1 isn't the case and shift things away from the card so it's not to restrict the airflow. If that doesn't help, I would take apart the card (carefully) and clean up the stock paste with an alcohol wipe. Then reapply with some good paste like OCZ Freeze or Shin-Etsu and reseat the heatsink properly. If non of those things help I would RMA the card; so be careful when you take it apart not to nick anything and don't damage or rip any of the tags/stickers on it. If a sticker is blocking a screw just get a really small thin tool like a needle or something and pry it up a little off the corner (not take it off), just enough to get to the screw. Then when you replace the screw remember to place the sticker back over it. EDIT: Also, there is no need to set a manual fan speed for this video card (unless you want to make it quieter but keep in mind a lower fan speed may increase your temperatures). The automatic fan speed adjustment works perfectly fan to accommodate all scenarios if everything is properly put together and functioning.

No my card is far from restricted. I have plenty of airflow on it. I will try to reseat the heatsink this weekend then. Thanks for your comments!

this cards tend to hit high 80s in a case while folding.. my curent setup dosnt go over 76 while folding but thats only because im caseless right now.

overclock your GRP without modify voltages generally doesn't increase temps too much, leave the fan on high and get good TIm, see if you can direct a little extra intra-case airflow at it and see what you can do

I got some today, I still need to do the reseat, but it seems that when I overclock that my FPS is drastically reduced and I cannot even play on normal clock speeds and get good FPS unless I restart. Why would this be?
