GTX 460 water blocks?

Just curious, will there be any? I think some (or all) GTX 470 block also work with the GTX 465, and there are waterblocks for the 5770, so it wouldn't be that much of a stretch to see them on the GTX 460 and get some nice overclocks.

Have any been announced or confirmed compatible with the GTX 460?

As most of the released cards use reference PCBs (I think only Gigabyte and PaLiT use non-reference boards right now), it's very reasonable to expect full-coverage blocks for the GTX460. The 5770 got FC-type blocks even though it was cooler and quieter than its bigger brothers, after all.

But no, there haven't been any announcements or statements of confirmation from the manufacturers yet.

GPU only blocks should fit already...

They'd just use Bitspower blocks. Want to see Aquacomputer and EK blocks, thx.

Palit/gainward use non-ref mounting holes that are the same as the G92s and most ATI cards.

EK has the GTX 460 block listed (not selling though) on its website. listing nickel & nickel/acetal, $100-105 usd. oddly they have the same pic for both,

. I suspect the nickel will be either a nickle plated top or acrylic. seems they are like the budget ati 5770 blocks, but priced about same as gtx470/480. good thing I went w/ gtx470, getting nickel/acrylic soon

Geeze, $110 for a block... that's half the value of the card -_- I would think that only the GPU would need to be watered down, the rest should be fine with heatsinks provided the airflow is decent... I may look into such a solution down the road

Have you got any proof to back that up? I'm not questioning your credibility, I just want to be absolutely positive before I buy some aftermarket coolers for my Palit cards (which was my intention when I bought the cards).

I second that query. Having just got 2x Palit GTX460 Sonic Platimums for SLI, I'd like to add them to my water setup and would like to know what block(s) I should be looking for.

Can anyone confirm? (And yes, I did register on this site just to ask this question...)

Only "proof" I can provide is a picture of the Palit cards stripped down from Overclockers Club... certainly looks like a square arrangement for the holes. Whether they're G92 spacing or not I'm not sure. I need to do some system swapping about next week, I'll take a measure to one of my GTX460s and an 8800GT and see whether the spacing is the same?

Awesome, thanks! Much appreciated. I'll "watch this space"

Well, I guess now we know for sure... I sent a mail to Palit's support and just received this reply:

Dear customer

1. Removing the original fan from the graphic card will void the warranty. Palit doesn't recommend such a movement.
2. The mounting holes of Palit GTX 460 are different with Nvidia reference board.
Thanks.

So we know for a fact that the mounting holes are indeed different. As for voiding the warranty, well, that's not the first time I'd be doing that in the name of overclocking...

snakeboy, that Palit e-mail doesn't really say much. Just "warranty void" and "different"... well we knew that from the pics of the bare card.

Still, nice to have confirmation I guess.

Should be able to measure some stuff up on Monday.
