I got a XFX GeForce 6800Ultra, and I installed a Zalman VF700 on it a while ago, but the temps hasnt dropped at all... They've gotten higher really..
__________________Idle is at between 50 and 55, depending on the ambient temp, and the load temp is 86 degrees, sometimes 90... With the stock cooler, i had idle temp at 46 and load temp at max 80. What could be the reason??? *I havnt put AS5 on it, but i'm gonna buy it in the next few days... but that cant be the only "problem", can it?? when the temps has rised that much with an aftermarket cooler???

There is no thermal paste between the gpu core and the heatsink? Yeah that could definately be it...Thermal paste fills tiny air gaps so maximum heat can be transfered.

its not seated properly or the fan isnt working well. check both, run the fan at full speed, its not like its loud! if its not seated properly, its probably not done up tight enough

for AS5 ya only need a grain of rice amount on the cpu and half that on the gpu. make sure you dont get any on your mobo, as its conductive.
as for fanless cooelrs, your going to want a zalman. below is a link to it click me

3.5grams will be enough for cpu and gpu and chipset. as long as you use a nice small amount like i said above
edit when you said chipset, you did mean the mobo right.....?
