Additionaly your PC would freeze if the card becomes to hot. So you just restart it. There are so much safety features now, its pretty hard to damage something if you are not working with your hands on it ^^

erm you mean what Otions to turn on or what Overclocking ?
For a little more performance you schould turn on AGP Fast Write.
Other stuff you can do in your driver.
