Make sure to check temps before and after for all of your components. Watch the cpu, gpu, NB/SB, and hdd temps.

If they don't rise too much I'd say the overclock is fine. Otherwise lower/raise the clock until temperatures are acceptable.

ok im going up about tem or 15 MHz at a time on 3D perf. and im at 430 from 375 and i havnt had any artifacts. i think im doing good. once i hit artifacts i should move it down a bit then try the memory too right?

Just do 3D since that is where the power matters. Overclocking the 2D and low 3D settings won't do much good since the card is powerful enough to handle those by itself.
