Overclocking a laptop is a bad idea... there's little airflow.

But it's your machine. Just bump up your "Performance 3D" Core settings a few MHz at a time, and watch those temps. If you notice any glitches whatsoever in the 3D display, back down immediately. Once you find a safe area, have it test for artifacts for a while. If all is good, start bumping the memory speed up.

Without a voltage increase there will be minimal temperature increases.

Tell that to my GeForce 7600GT that hits 78C at max overclock.

Around 70C is considered by many to be safe.

That is incorrect my friend. As you increase the memory/core clocks on the card you will put more stress on the card and output more heat.

Try some benchmarks with the memory at stock and then bump it up 150MHz. The differences aren't relatively large, but the temperature jump is still noticeable.

I'd stay lower than 85c on 3D and as a precaution even lower since there is less headroom to dissipate the heat in the laptop. The extra heat will be carried out by other components as well.

I'd take smaller steps than that. A 100MHz bump could cause a lockup/toast.

Also I said minimal not no increase.

I have and I'm looking for the screens right now. Off the top of my head it is about a 4-5°c temp increase and I'm talkin 40mhz core and 250mhz mem increase.
