i want to overclock my 7950gt but for some reason i greatly despise ntune, and its just never worked for me that well.... for instance, i set the clock speeds, and then when i restart my computer, its back to stock settings

ATI tool works great as does RivaTuner. I personally use rivatuner for the OC, but ati tool for the stability test.

rivatuner is better for overclocking and ATItiool is good for testing stability unless you have SLI then ati tool wont work. its not a sli ready program.

Do us all a favour and don't use nTune.
Stick to RivaTuner, ATI Tool or ATI Tray Tools. I find nTune extremely buggy and just plain difficult to work with. As was suggested earlier you may want to consider using RivaTuner to overclock with and then use ATI Tool to scan for artifacts.

i use rivatuner to OC and to setup fan speed profiles that switch according to gpu temp....i find it very useful. I also use ATI tool for stability testing...bottom line is yes, i agree with what everyone else said lol

Definitely stay away from nTune for any system optimization.
