you could search for a volt mod or something like that.

hi i new to overclocking gfx cards other than in Ntune (which sucks)
__________________ive been told to try rivatuner does this keep the setting so that when u reboot the gfx card will stay overclocked? and all so what do ya reckon is a stable clock for my 8800 ultra i have EK waterblock on it and the temp is 22c idle according to Everest. ive only ever taken it upto black pearl speeds in ntune

Man thats cold.
__________________River tuner will keep the settings yes. I would use atitool to scan for artifacts as you push the clock up. My core is at 702, the next step is 720 which my card cant hold. My ram is at 1151. Every card is different and you will need to have a go to see how high you can go. Nobody can tell you what speeds to use. Good luck.

well thats good to know laurie... but my temps are only at 53c with this overclock value... so logically speaking i can oc it more right?
__________________but im guessing im hitting a bottleneck... as above 710 on core or above 1200 on memory, artifacts could be found in ati... so what now? i heard there's some technique called volt mod... what the hell is that?

Yes temps are not the only issue. Some chips just have a lower upper limit than others.
__________________What are you using to measure your Clock speeds? Because what you set it to in Riva is not the actual clock speed. You will need something like everest to check your actual speeds. Mine jumps from 702 to 720. I would thing they are all the same. A volt mod is a risky thing to do. You have to cut traces and solder bits and bobs onto the card. Dont do it. My card hits 40c-44c at max load and I cant get any more out of it.
