Default Overclocking 8800 GTX

Ive got a couple questions regarding my 8800 gtx real quick. First off, my friend came over to my house and overclocked it for me, and it is currently at 630/1593/999. I was wondering whether it is worth trying to overclock it more. If so, is there any limits that i should be aware of, or should i just overclock until right before it artifacts in ati tool. Secondly, what should i limit it to in regards to temperature when running ati tool. What is the threshold?

thanks

overclocking will show some improvement and you should be able to go higher than that, just check the temps and stuff can you post stock clocks?

Well the GPU itself is supposed to be safe up to 110c. But i would never let it get above 100c.

I'm having some trouble too. I'm actually getting around about the same clocks as you exept for the 620 core I have. I don't have enough amps on the 12v rail on my PSU though so that's why I cant get further.

alright, im gonna try pushing it a little higher. btw another quick question. How long should ati tool scan for artifacts before i know that it is stable. and how long does it need to run until i find out my max temp?

2 minutes?! That is too fast. That's like taking a shower for 5 seconds.

I recommend,

-15 minutes for a quick scan
-3 to 4 hours for a full scan

My video card is on the edge of having a artifact, but since there are none with hours of scanning, it has been doing fine.

Once, I scanned for our 2 hours and 30 minutes, my card started to show artifacts.

Your decision though. Whatever you're most comfortable with.
