Thumbs up 6200 Overclocking

Using Rivatuner, the extra pipelines are already unlock, my guess because its a OC edition. Anyways, i enable something called " Unlock Professional Capabilities" , so i just finishing overclocking, hasn't crash yet. I remember when i tried to do this before, it would crash at the slightly touch at the core.

Stock

OC temps stays at 51c or 52c

OC the core from 350 to 485

The fillrate finally went up

Alright i am about to touch the memory in a bit, but my question if the temps stays cool, i shouldn't have to worry right?

Try stressing it using stressing it in a game that really pushes the card and see if you get any yellow dots on the screen. If you do means it's getting too hot so you have to back down the OC a little bit. Also ATI Tool will do the same and I recommend that.

It looks like you do have an OC edition GF6200, but that doesn't mean you unlocked extra pipelines. Only the earlier AGP revisions were able to unlock extra pipelines because they were using the same core as the 6600GT but with a different BIOS.

What happend to your ATi 2400 and Geforce 8400 PCI cards? They're alot better than the 6200.

I will test it. In the past when i tried OC( This was before i enable some of the stuff in Rivatuner and before i was using these new 178.13 drivers that kick butt btw) after overclocking the core, the screen on my desktop will turn yellow and red and my computer will shut off. Now that i have everything enable with the new drivers, this issue is not present.

Sometime next month, a Gateway Dual Core 2 with a Diamond 4670. But i am a little worry about using ATI cards, because of the flawed ATI drivers. But i could be incorrect about how bad the ati drivers are performing. What i mean is, my 2400 card performance is terrible, i think its because of the drivers, but maybe its the 2400 line of cards. So i will find out how good my old games play using the new ati cards very soon. If they perform bad, no more ati for a long time.

I did tests with all 3 cards, the 6200 vs the 2400 and the 8400GS.

The 8400GS: Seems to work just fine with powerful rigs, but with my rig that is not possible. Game performance in the same as my 2400HD, which i guess its bottlenecking and the performance is bad. Also another issue, the card is too big and wide for my computer. Alot of people who bought the card complain about it, which is why you don't see it listed over at newegg anymore. The 8400GS is not made for smaller towers. But its a very good card if you use the right drivers and have a powerful computer. It plays most of the lastest games with ease. Also, it supports PhysX.

The 2400HD: Where do i Start? Stays cool at 39c about 95% of the time, seriously. Its a 50/50 card, meaning it plays some games good, and others like crap. For example, these are old games examples, such as Unreal Gold, Revolution ( FPS Shooter ) , GTA SA, Invisible War, etc.

" If i am looking at a wall i get good fps, say in Unreal GOLD i get 80-100. But when i turn around or just start walking, the game becomes choppy as hell, it drops from 100-8. In GTA SA, the game is so slow, its like i am moving in water "

" Amazing, using my 6200 those games which i just mention plays just fine. In unreal GOLD using my 6200 i am facing a wall it jumps up to 95-105 and when i turn around it drops to 80-90. GTA SA is playable , even with AAX2 on with my 6200. " Crysis runs better with my 6200 then my 2400HD.

I have 3 theories. The 2400HD is a bad card for gaming in general, or its the Drivers from ATI which sucks with opengl extensions, no Vertex Shaders, no hardware acceleration = Choppy performance with alot of older games. Or the 2400HD Is holding back because of my computer.

I think its the card & the drivers. Thats my guess, because Timeshift plays amazing with the 2400HD, 20-40fps, thats pretty good for my rig. So its a 50/50 card, which does not sit well with me. Actually its more like 80/20. Can't play 80% of my games, when the last 20% plays perfect.

6200 OC BFG: Short version = Its a beast. This card out performs every game which i have played with my 2400. Only thing, it can't play timeshift well and and stranglehold doesn't even load up.

The Bottom line: The 6200 works wonderful with my rig, my guess because it doesn't required so much power and its ease on the computer. I would of kept the 8400GS if the card would fit good in my rig, which it didn't. I had to force the card, which wipe out my onboard sound. So i am force to use sound cards now.

JUST A UPDATE:

I am not going to OC this card anymore, its very dangerous. One thing i have always notice, when OC, even when setting everything back to default, or just having OC , or whatever, i get blacks outs, the screen will go black for a second and when its back, i get lines across the screen.

Seems likes OC a already OC card is not a wise idea.

peace

Look at the specs for you card: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_6_Series

You see how it says Pixel 4/ 3 Vertex? That means you haven't unlocked anything.

The standard 6200 comes with 350 MHz Core/ 400 MHz Memory and your OC edition came with 410 MHz, so in other words OC editions only overclock the Core and Memory.

yea i already did overclocked, but after a while i get black screen flashes and say when i get one black out, after the black out, i get lines across the screen. This only happens when overclocking the 6200, with the 2400 or any other card, this doesn't happen. So i am kinda scared to oc this card, because i really do not want to mess it up or my computer.

I don't why i get blackouts and lines across my screen when overclocking. I mean it doesn't happen when overclocking, it will happen after a while, or say if i set everything back to default , it will start to show up.
