Exclamation Vista 32-bit hates my XFX 8600GT XXX!

I just installed Vista Ultimate 32-bit on my computer and started installing drivers, starting with my XFX 8600GT XXX. First, I tried using disc it came with to install the driver from, which installed fine. Once I restarted though, it loaded through the welcome screen until it got to the point where it usually loads the desktop. The monitor dislpayed a message saying "out of range". I rebooted in safe mode and uninstalled the driver. I went onto the nvidia website and got the newest driver and installed that one, but the same thing happened. I am totally lost at the moment...an help?

Have you tried different drivers? Like the 178.13 or the 175.19 ones?

Have you tried it in XP? Did it work fine there? Any issues whatsoever under XP?

Is it just 32 bit Vista that doesn't work? Has it worked in 64?

My card has been working fine under XP. I just recently got Vista and decided to dual boot it with XP in case I didn't like it. I don't know about the 64-bit versions because both of them are 32. I just wanted to find a driver for it because it said my vista experience rating was 1.0, which I know for a fact should be at least a 4.5. The driver I downloaded was 178.24 and I'm not sure which one was on the disc, I need to check that.

Ok it's working now, thank goodness. It turns out when I installed it and rebooted, the Nvidia control panel automatically chose a really weird resolution that my monitor didn't support. I rebooted in safe mode and changed the resolution to 800 x 600 again, except this time it actually used that resoultion when I booted it again. It's rockin' out now. Thanks everyone!

Download the new 180.48 I believe, whatever the newest WHQL is and install and then restart in safemode and set your resolution to 800x600 and restart

EDIT> just saw you fixed it, glad you got it worked out
