Furmark is OpenGL, not sure if that matters...?

Not really, besides that you need a card with OpenGL capabilities. But if you don't have a card with that...well....you really need to get out of the 80's.

What I meant is, FurMark will be benchmarking/stress testing your card in OpenGL mode.

Maybe it's a good idea to also use a D3D utility like a 3DMark or something?

Open up Notepad and hold down a key - for example: ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff f

After a while this will stress out the GPU.

furmark is more like occt linpack or intel burntest. would not really recommend it for just general stability testing. A good indicator of stability is losing points in 3dmark, if your card is unstable you will loose points in 3dmark 06.

A Quick and Easy way is to run 3D Mark 06 from futuremark. That Program will pound your system till it asks for more.
