Default Can't output 1280x1024 with 185.xx and up drivers

Anyone else have this problem? Ever since the 185.xx and up drivers, I have not been able to run 1280x1024 on my 1080p HDTV. With 182.50 and below drivers, I can do this just fine, no problems. With the newer drivers, the screen will just go black. I've been able to alt+tab a couple of times, but most of the time it requires a hard reboot in order to fix it. I can hear sounds in the background, I just can't get a display to show up.

Anyone else have this problem with these drivers? I'm thinking it's just not playing nice with my HDTV, which it does recognize (model# and everything) just fine. Again, I do not have a problem with the 182.50 and below drivers, and this is the only problem I have with the new drivers.

Now I know some of you will ask: why? who cares?

Well I only run it for benching, like 3DMark06 and Vantage, and the Crysis benchmark tool, etc etc. A lot of people bench at default settings (1280x1024), and I like to compare my scores with theirs. Now I'm still running the latest WHQL, not being able to bench hasn't stopped me from running the "better" drivers. I was just curious why this is happening or if I'm the only one?

I read about this somewhere. I think it was a combatiblity issue. So my advice stick with older drivers.

Yea, better off staying with the last drivers that supported that resolution. Keep an eye out for new versions that support it I guess.

Right now I'm just sticking with the latest WHQL, as they have an SLI profile for Prototype (still playing), and they support Ambient Occlusion. I game at 1920x1080 anyway, I was only using 1280x1024 for default bench runs with 3DMark06/Vantage, Crysis Benchmark Tool, etc etc, which is really rather meaningless except for e-peen lol.

I guess I'm just one of few, as I can't find anyone else with this problem. I think it's just the drivers not liking my HDTV to be honest. Most people use monitors, so I doubt they did a whole lot of debugging on HDTV's.

Thanks for taking the time to post!

All I can tell you is that Iīm using 185.85 and itīs fine at 1080p (dual monitor with 19" at 1440*900). I get the black screen you described when I set a resolution that is not supported by my 40". Unfortunately I havenīt tried this setup with the older drivers....
