I was hoping this was a thread that helped you find the best higher voltage for your GPU but I guess not. 1100mv is the stock voltage for GTX 260s? And you're just going lower from there, correct?

I actually tried bumping up the volts on my 192-core GTX 260 with Voltage Tuner but it yielded nothing worthwhile. The card just isn't that overclockable. I hear the 216-core is better for OC'ing. My GTX 260 is currently at 680Mhz. I was hoping for more like what I got with my 8800 GTS 512.

I don't think I've had a video card (in the recent past) that couldn't be "smoked" by FurMark or ATI Artifact Scanner if I left them running. Temps were always "runaway". Not sure if I had the fan pegged at 100% - don't remember. But this hasn't caused any problems for me at all. Gaming temps don't come anywhere near the temps generated by these apps.

If your GPU overheats from ATI tool something is seriously wrong!
I've passed ATI tool with 750 core clocks and high shader + high memory at stock volts.
Furmark wouldn't even allow me to pass 10 secs at stock clocks + stock volts.

Trust me. If you cannot pass Furmark without black screening chances are some games will knock out your GPU. Prototype at highest settings, Mass Effect at highest settings they were the games giving me blacks screens.

Great guide man, which GTX 260 do you have? Mine is the Black Edition 65nm.

It doesn't really get that hot, but I'll see if this even lowers my temps.

I guess having 9 fans + the GPU fan helps.

I have a BFG 65nm core 216 OC edition. (Ohh boy what a name )

This will lower your temps for sure. Also you could just go for the highest stable clock you can get and then try to undervolt from that. You might be able to get a little lower vGPU with high clocks, who knows

Nice job this thread will surely help out alot of user's...these cards can get hot...my rooms ambient temp kept my card just fine though
