My EVGA 8800GT has been a long time ally of mine. I bought the duo-orb cooler thanks to these forums, case fans thanks to these forums, and overclocked my e2180... thanks to these forums.
__________________So I decided to give another risky operation a go. I'm tired of my threshold being 650 on the core without driver failures, even if I have 45c max load temps. Basically I want to increase my voltage to a safe level so I can get to 700 on the core. Or however much the new voltage allows with safe temps. I have downloaded nvflash 5.80 and tried to make a bootable CD with them to no success, will get a usb drive today. In the mean time is there any software way to do this for my 8800GT? P.S: Once I do get nvflash to boot and save my bios (I know how to do this much.) how much of a voltage increase would YOU guys recommend and whats a good program to test my 8800gt to see if its stable?

The pinned/locked topic on flashing isn't what I need, thats just a permanent overclock. I want to know how to flash my bios with a CD or USB stick to increase voltage.

Can't you change voltage in EVGA Precision?

I first downloaded the HP boot disk utility
(http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...reg_R1002_USEN) to make my flash drive bootable, I then used the same program to make it a dos boot disk using one of the windows 98 boot dos's from here(I forget the exact one) (http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm) Then I put the nvflash files and the rom on the flash drive. Next I booted to the usb drive and did the flash and it worked great. ![]() Good luck with it. I tried other methods I found on ocn but none of them seemed to work because of some random errors so I had to sorta make this one up myself. I hope it goes well. EDIT: If you need the commands I used when I booted into the flash drive to flash were first I made a backup by using this command: nvflash -b backup.rom and that should make a backup rom and next to flash it: nvflash -4 -5 -6 newrom.rom (replace newrom with the name of the rom you want to flash with).

Those instructions look great, I get my hands on my flash drive as soon as it arrives here!

You can try nibitor. Download it(google or the OCN download section) and when you open it, and go into tools, Read BIOS, Select Device, then click on your gpu, then go back into read bios and click Read into NiBiTor. Now nibitor should be able to see all of the cards info. Click on the voltages tab and click ok on the warning that pops up. There should be a place where it says 3d and the voltage beside it. I don't know the stock voltage for an 8800gt but for my 8800gtx, it was 1.3v. If you click that drop down bar, it will give you more voltage options, if there is a higher option, click it if you want to. once you're done with that, save the rom as 1.rom or something easy to remember. Then follow my instructions above.
P.S. If there aren't any higher voltages listed in the drop down box, you can try this. You can go into tools, voltage table editor and in there, you can change one of those entries to a higher voltage. Once thats done push OK. Go back into the voltages tab and check if the new value popped up, if it didn't click some other tab then go back to the voltages tab, the new value should now show up in the drop down bar. But remember this might not actually change the voltage value even if you change it in the bios. I did it a couple a times when I increased the voltage on my card to 1.3 to 1.35 and that time it actually worked. But, when I tried to push it to 1.4v, it didn't change. Edit: And by the way, I've just flashed my 8800gtx into an 8800ultra. Also one more thing that popped up in my head. If you download a new rom from somewhere that you want to flash to your gpu MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THAT THE TIMINGS ARE THE SAME! If they aren't, it could mess your card up. I almost made that mistake but I caught myself in the end.

I finally got my hands on a flash drive. Welp, HP boot disk doesn't support my OS and I don't think the 98 files off of bootdisk will work with Vista either.
__________________So... what the hell should I do to flash my bios on vista? :/ I've got the latest nvflash and nibitor, and saved the .rom with the changes I want.

Alright, I figured out how to get this to work. All I need now are MS DOS 6.22 boot disk files. But whenever I download them from bootdisk.com, it tries to run a batchassistant and tries to locate a floppy drive which I don't have. And then it says error no drive in A:/, and turns itself off.
__________________I just want the files so I can use the HP flash drive assistant that I got working. It won't let me drop the MS DOS files anywhere to even get started I CAN'T FIND MS DOS BOOT FILES ANYWHERE, THEY ALL TRY TO AUTO EXTRACT TO A FLOPPY DISK RAAAAGGGEEE

To get the files off the those files you download, what you gotta do is right click on the file, and extract them to a folder using winrar. Then choose that folder in the hp boot disk thing. Hope that works, good luck!
