Default GTX 260 + New Drivers + Windows 7 = BSOD

I'm posting this from my ASUS Express Gate Splashtop Browser because my PC keeps screwing up. I'm having problems since I installed the new drivers for my GTX 260 and I tried to uninstall them and re-install but it's still doing the same thing. I remember reading somewhere of a method to get a "fresh" driver install and it was more complicated than just uninstalling.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

Remove Drivers through Control Panel
Download DriverSweeper and remove old Nvidia Drivers.
Restart
Install new drivers.
Restart

Yeah, when you get rid of video drivers you have to clean the registry entries they leave behind or you won't get proper functionality out of the new ones. Do what the guy above me said.

(Driver Cleaner is equivalent to DriverSweeper)

It's also a good idea to run a program like Ccleaner after you have cleaned with Driversweeper. Both clean out the junk files and use the registry cleaner.

Yea, I ran Ccleaner after I uninstalled the drivers but that didn't work. I'm thinking something is corrupted. Hopefully the Driver Sweeper takes care of that.

Do it exactly as he put it it though.

The only thing that I do different is that
1.) Uninstall Driver in windows
2.) Reboot into Safe Mode
3.) Run Driver Cleaner
4.) Run Ccleaner and it's registry cleaner
5.) Reboot in Windows
6.) Install New Driver

Exactly what all the gurus said and also, if you can do this in safe mode that would be even better. Then reboot and install drivers in normal mode of course. Also try using www.guru3d.com driver sweeper , put a tick in nvidia and phsy and clean , this is after uninsatlling from control panel. Once you run this app in safe mode and say clean then your clean. Boot up and install the latest WHQL and you should be good to go. gl

OK guys, once again, thanks for your help but it's not looking good for me. No BSOD but my display flashed on and off and I got the message below.

Now I did everything that was suggested, removed everything with Driver Sweeper and even got different drivers from the Nvidia website. The ones I originally had were from the XFX website though they were both the same version.

Any ides? I'm running both a GTX 260 via DVI and an 8500GT via VGA for Physx. In Vista, this has been working fine. I just upgraded my P5Q-E BIOS and then I upgraded the drivers.

So, it's still giving me this error message every time I reboot. I'm gonna have to uninstall these drivers and go back to 186.

I should have time to do that later tonight.
