Default Display Drivers Crashing, help please

I'm new to this site, but it looks like a good place to get help.
So I'm running two GTX 260's in SLI, with 2 monitors and occasionally depending on the day it happens a lot, some days it doesn't happen, but my screens will get all distorted, so everything just looks fragmented. Then after a few moments the computer will reboot, a few times it's popped up a blue screen and says the video driver has failed.
I've had the problem for awhile now, and the drivers have been updated several times and I keep hoping that it'll fix it, but it never does.

Any suggestions?

Hi, Als! Welcome to Overclock.net!

So, I'm curious: have you always had two GTX 260's in SLI with a dual monitor setup in this rig?

Thank you

No I haven't I've gone through a couple video cards actually.
But this problem has happened on different card setups as well.
Before this I had a GTX 260 and 8800 GT. This is my first time using SLI.

(edit: I was actually hoping changing to two of the same video card might fix it.)

I'm not sure if it's related, but which power supply do you have? What's the brand and model?

Well then it has to be enough power. So perhaps it's something else and so perhaps all I'm doing is giving free bumps for the thread.

Yea, it should have plenty of power, but I just have no idea what could be causing the issue. :_(
Hopefully someone can help me. Thanks for responding though. :]

Oh and I just thought of something else, I think it happens mostly (maybe even all the time) when I'm watching a video. I know its happened watching different kinds of videos and in different players though. :\

I'm thinking it might be a heating issue, so I followed a guide on here on how to try and fix it. Hopefully this'll work.
I haven't had a crash since I've done it but its only been 6 or so hours, and sometimes its fine for days. Hopefully it's all good now

I guess another thing to try would be increasing the northbridge (SPP) voltage, or the southbridge (MCP), or even both. Here's what Newegg's Learning Center has to say on what the Northbridge and Southbridge chips do:
Quote:
Chipset

The term "chipset" (sometimes called core logic) often refers to the two main chips on the motherboard: the Northbridge and the Southbridge. The Northbridge (or MCH in Intel chipsets) often refers to the chip that handles communications between the CPU, memory, AGP or PCI Express and the Southbridge. The Northbridge often includes the memory controller. Some models will also contain an integrated graphics unit (they are called the GMCH in Intel chipsets).

The Southbridge (Intel calls it the ICH) provides connections to I/O devices, such as the PCI bus, USB, PATA, SATA and PCI Express devices. Other Southbridge functions include interrupt controller, real time clock, power management (ACPI and APM), SMBus and so on. Southbridge chips are usually connected to Northbridge chips.

The chipset is the core component of a motherboard, and the CPU support, graphics support, major I/O device support and expansion (add-in) card support all depend on the chipset. Therefore, after determining the processor, the first thing a user needs to do when choosing a motherboard is determine the chipset.
For a silly example, I recently installed the G.SKILL Falcon SSD, and I was having some problems. So, I figured I would first try increasing some voltages. So, I remembered that Newegg had the above information, and as a result, I ended up increasing the Southbridge voltage. When it was on Auto, it was at the lowest possible setting in the BIOS: 1.50V. After some trial-and-error, I ended up increasing it to 1.675V, and that seems to have been what my rig needed.

So, perhaps your rig is looking for more voltage for either the SPP or MCP - or even both. You may even benefit from increasing the HT nForce SPP<-->MCP voltage a little bit. According to the manual, that's "the HyperTransport interface between the NVIDIA nForce SPP and MCP chips". However, that's as much as I know about it.
