Hello people. I just bagged myself a sparkle 9600gt 1gb ddr3 card and wondered if anyone can help me overclock this card. I was very successful in overclocking the sparkle 8600gt 512mb ddr2 card, so I thought I would try my hand with this one. So far I have pushed the shader clock a fair way up the Scale, but dont seem to be having much luck with the core clock or the mem clock speeds. Has anybody managed to beat this card into submission yet. Would a bios mod be in order or do I have to go the way of a volt mod, something which I try to stear clear of. Any help would be "Great Help".
My specs are as follows :- Asus M3N78 SE mobo... Amd 64x2 5200 2.7ghz cpu overclocked to 3.12ghz... Giel 2x2gb ddr2 800mhz running at 5.5.5.15... Sparkle 9600gt 1gb ddr3 gpu... Soundblaster 24bit audio... Saitek gaming keyboard... OCZ Equalizer-z gaming mouse... hope somebody can help me improve this already competent card a little more. Many thanks in advance for any suggestions. Respect to the community. ReaperXL2

I've got a 9600gt 1GB as well, except it's made by Palit.
First I like to raise the core clock until it gets unstable. There should be an option on the program you're using to link the core clock with the shader clock. If it gets unstable now, it means your shader is too high and you need to lower it until it's stable again. After that I OC the memory clock until it's stable. My 9600 gt 1gb works at 750/2120/1825.

Cheers Bartmata. your advice has been very helpfull. I will give your techniques a whirl in a few minutes. Just one question. The clock readings you have given me, do they relate like this? 750 core, shader, mem respectively? Again Kudos for your help mate.

well when you link the 750 core clock with the shader you should get 1875 instead of the 1825 I have listed. 1875 is too high for me so I brought it down.
Also you may not be able to achieve the memory clock I listed. My card has a high stock memory clock already which is 2000 and I took it to 2120. PS: Please use the +rep button
